Terms & Conditions of Use

1. Introduction

  • a. These Terms of Use are attached to and form part of the agreement between The Sailing Society and the members of the Society. You may not use the website unless you have agreed to these Terms of Use;

    b. Any changes or additions to these Terms and Conditions must be agreed upfront by The Sailing Society;

    c. The brand and trading name “The Sailing Society”, the internet address “www.thesailingsociety.com” and associated Facebook page(s) are the intellectual property of The Sailing Society and may not be used, copied or reproduced in any form without the explicit permission in writing of The Sailing Society;

    d. The Sailing Society has no connection whatsoever with any other trading name or web site address which may appear similar in layout or name;

    e. These Terms of Use apply to all pages of the website, www.thesailingsociety.com and govern your use of our site and our provision of the services to you. We recommend you to read these terms and conditions carefully; this will help ensure that they contain everything you require and that there is nothing within them that you are not prepared to agree to.

    In addition to these Terms and Conditions, you should review our Privacy Policy, which provides information on how we use your personal data.

2. The Sailing Society

  • The Sailing Society is a global community of sailors, from complete novice up to serious race crew. The objective is to bring together sailors worldwide to enable them to share their unlimited passion for sailing, the fellowship and the fun.

    Therefore, the Sailing Society engages in an online platform which
    1) uncovers the huge variety of sailing events in all corners of the world
    2) offers sailors access to unlimited opportunities of participating in exciting events
    3) provides information on how to participate in local club events and how to join a local sailor for an experience of a lifetime

    The Sailing Society provides a comprehensive data platform for sailing event organisers, yacht owners, crew, individual club members, yacht clubs and charter companies to enable them to participate in any regatta, anywhere in the world.

3. Use of the website and its services

  • a. When using The Sailing Society website you assume all risks, including but not limited to all of the risks associated with any interactions with others. You agree to take all necessary precautions when meeting individuals through our website.

    b. The Sailing Society will not be held liable or responsible for any damages to your health and/or the health of third parties and also for any other consequences of the use of the website and that the website is provided “as it is”.

    c. The Sailing Society shall not be responsible for any delays, incorrect or untimely delivery, removal or failure to save your personal information and/or direct or indirect damages that you may incur. This includes any loss of profit or any damage, arising from the use or inability to use our website.

    d. Your registration with The Sailing Society is personal and for your personal use only. You may not transfer or authorise others to use your account. You are solely responsible for, and assume all liability regarding for:
    i. the information and content you post, transmit, publish, or otherwise make available on our website;
    ii. the information and content you contribute to the website;
    iii. your interactions with other members of The Sailing Society.

    e. You will provide only correct, accurate and timely information to The Sailing Society or its members. If information provided subsequently becomes inaccurate, misleading or false, you will promptly notify us of such change.

4. Membership of The Sailing Society

  • a. Paid membership is offered in due course after registering as a free member and is completely optional. In order to provide continuous service, The Sailing Society automatically renews all paid subscriptions for its paid membership on the date such subscriptions expire. In all cases, if you do not wish your account to renew automatically, please follow the directions set out under the item below.

    b. You may cancel your subscription to The Sailing Society at any time during the subscription term by sending a notice of cancellation to Legal@ TheSailingSociety.com. In any case, your subscription will terminate at the end of the subscription term for which you have paid, and you will not receive any refund for any unused days of such subscription term.

    c. We always communicate renewal periods to you via email. By entering into this Agreement, you acknowledge that your account will be subject to the above-described automatic renewals.
